From Waste to Power! Nong Khaem Turns Waste into Clean Energy

The Nong Khaem Waste Disposal and Energy Recovery Facility in Bangkok is moving toward power generation from waste after C&G Environmental Protection (Thailand) Co., Ltd. successfully completed the First Synchronization, connecting the facility to the national power grid. The project can process at least 1,000 tons of waste per day, with a maximum capacity of 1,600 tons per day, converting waste into electricity.
Located on a 39-rai site in Nong Khaem, Bangkok, the facility operates under a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model through public-private cooperation. Waste is used as fuel for power generation, with the electricity connected to the grid through a 115-kV transmission system. The project is expected to help reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill while turning waste into renewable energy.
The successful connection highlights the “Waste-to-Energy” approach, linking waste management with renewable power generation. It adds value to waste, reduces reliance on landfill disposal, and supports Bangkok’s long-term transition toward more sustainable waste management. From waste that once needed to be disposed of to energy that can be put to use — another step toward a cleaner and more sustainable Bangkok.
