First in Bangkok: Mega Enclosed Waste Facility Uses Negative Pressure Technology to Control Odor
- Bangkok has taken a major step forward in modern waste management with the first public opening of a “Negative Pressure Enclosed Solid Waste Receiving Facility,” the largest enclosed waste facility in the city. The site welcomed government agencies, nearby communities, and media for an on-site visit on March 16, 2026.
- The visit aimed to enhance public understanding of advanced waste management processes and address long-standing concerns over waste odor, a key issue affecting the quality of life in surrounding communities.
- A key highlight of the facility is its negative pressure technology, which effectively prevents odors from escaping. Air inside the waste pit is continuously drawn into a treatment system and safely released afterward, significantly reducing odor dispersion and environmental pollution.
- The project, operated by New Sky Energy (Bangkok) Co., Ltd., is closely monitored by the Environmental Impact Monitoring Committee (CoP) in collaboration with relevant agencies to ensure strict compliance with environmental standards. This initiative marks an important step in advancing Bangkok’s waste management system toward a more modern, environmentally friendly approach, while building long-term trust with local communities
